Mmelesi Lodge is a modern hotel built in traditional Basotho style, located 25km from Maseru in Lesotho, nestled beneath the historic Thaba-Bosiu Mountain. The property features distinctive sandstone construction with masterfully thatched roofs.
The accommodation comprises 38 rooms in total, with 26 thatched rondavels (chalets) and 12 standard rooms situated behind the main building. All rooms are fully furnished and feature en-suite bathrooms, tea/coffee stations, heaters, and electric blankets, with fans available upon request at reception.
The main building houses the Mokhoro Restaurant serving a la carte and buffet options from breakfast through dinner, the well-stocked Qiloane Bar, and conference facilities. The Makuena Molapo Hall can accommodate 130 people in a round table configuration, making it ideal for weddings and various ceremonies.
Operating since May 1992, the lodge is situated in a historically significant location near Thaba-Bosiu, a national monument and sacred site where Kings Moshoeshoe I and II are buried. The area offers guided tours of the mountain and its surroundings, including the notable Qiloane Rock formation. The property's western boundary features the Phuthiatsana river, which provides picturesque picnic spots.
