Mokuru Private Nature Reserve is a 300-hectare sanctuary located in the Brits area of South Africa's North West Province. Named after the Tswana word for Turtle Dove, this captivating reserve offers an authentic African bush experience with diverse wildlife viewing opportunities, including game drives, walking trails, and cycling adventures. The property features a distinctive granite boulder viewpoint where guests can enjoy spectacular sunset views.
The reserve offers three distinct accommodation options. The Main Camp consists of six thatched, air-conditioned rooms that can accommodate 12-16 guests. Two rooms feature double beds with en-suite bathrooms, while four rooms contain three-quarter beds with shared bathroom facilities. The camp includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and braai facilities connected by paved pathways through the natural landscape.
Two luxury air-conditioned chalets provide more private accommodation, each sleeping four persons with en-suite bathrooms, private fully equipped kitchens, and individual garden areas. For those seeking a more rustic experience, the Bundu Camp offers three wooden cabins accommodating up to six guests, with basic amenities including fans and shared facilities. All accommodation options include Wi-Fi access and are serviced by dedicated lodge staff.
The reserve provides various activities including game drives to waterholes and dams, hiking trails, and bicycle rides. Nearby attractions include Sun City and fishing opportunities at Vaalkop Dam and Roodekoppies Dam. The entire reserve can be booked for larger groups of up to 30 guests, making it suitable for special occasions and gatherings.
The property operates as a self-catering facility but maintains high standards of service with a full-time Lodge Manager and Assistant. Its design emphasizes privacy and immersion in the natural environment, offering guests an authentic African bush experience while maintaining modern comforts.
