Mongena Game Lodge

The Mongena Game Lodge is a 4-star rated establishment located 35 km from Pretoria on the N1, in the malaria-free northwestern section of the Dinokeng Game Reserve, Gauteng province's only free-roaming Big 5 Reserve. It is situated just 40 minutes from Pretoria and a 1.5-hour drive from OR Tambo International Airport and Johannesburg.

The lodge offers accommodation in 24 air-conditioned en-suite rooms, including single, double/twin, or family accommodation, catering to a total of 60 guests in shared accommodation. Each unit features a shower, with family rooms having bathtubs, coffee/tea-making facilities, a room safe, hairdryer, flat-screen television with satellite TV programs, and a nightly room turn-down service. WiFi is available at certain hotspots around the lodge. All chalets are strategically positioned amidst rolling lawns and indigenous landscaping, in close proximity to the Tshukudu breakfast restaurant, Kingfisher a la carte Restaurant, pool, and Tshukudu bar area.

The tame zebras, nyalas, and springbucks residing in the main camp delight guests with their presence and have become a trademark of Mongena. Early morning and late afternoon guided game drives with experienced rangers take visitors up close to the best possible sightings on well-maintained safari vehicles in the distinctive African bush. Guests can expect to see lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, elands, zebras, kudus, wildebeests (gnus, hartebeests, tsessebes), impalas, waterbucks, hyenas, warthogs, ostriches, jackals, and the occasional rare leopard and cheetah.

The rate per person includes all meals, afternoon high tea, and two game activities (guided game drives or sunset cruise). Drinks with meals and the Dinokeng Conservation fee are not included. Wildlife is a high priority at Mongena, with early morning and late afternoon game drives led by experienced rangers taking visitors to the best rhino sightings imaginable.

All rooms are tastefully furnished with en-suite bathrooms and/or showers. They are well positioned amidst rolling lawns and indigenous landscaping, in close proximity to the gourmet Kingfisher Restaurant, pool, and bar.
