Mont Plaisir Guest Farm

Mont Plaisir Guest Farm is a working grain farm situated 6 kilometers outside Fouriesburg in the Free State, South Africa. Owned by Dutch proprietors Mark and Anna Mari, the farm's name translates to 'Pleasure Mountain'. The establishment offers four luxurious self-catering units and one en-suite room within the historic Old Main House.

The property is located in the Brandwater Basin, south of Bethlehem, offering panoramic views of the Red Mountains, White Mountains, Maluti Mountains, and Golden Gate National Park. The area is rich in Anglo-Boer War history and provides excellent opportunities for outdoor activities including hiking, horse riding, fishing, 4x4 driving, quad biking, and abseiling.

All accommodation units feature fireplaces and private braai (barbecue) facilities, and are fully equipped with bedding and bath towels. The rooms offer king-size, queen-size, or single beds with extra-length mattresses. Set within a beautiful garden, the property includes a lapa for sunset viewing and stargazing. Guests have access to seasonal fresh vegetables and fruit from the farm.

The location serves as a gateway to unique African winter sports experiences, being just 65 kilometers from Afri Ski resort in Lesotho. The resort, accessible via tar road, sits at 3500 meters elevation and offers winter sports activities. The area hosts several annual events, including the Asparagus Festival in September/October, the Surrender Hill Marathon in February, and the Cherry Festival in nearby Ficksburg in November.

The Eastern Free State region enjoys a mild summer climate and provides spectacular 360-degree mountain views, with scenic walking trails available throughout the area. Mont Plaisir's proximity to the Lesotho border makes it an ideal base for exploring both South African and Lesotho attractions.
