Moortop Cottages is situated in the heart of the picturesque Elgin Valley of South Africa's Western Cape, positioned at one of the highest points in the area. Established in early 2019, this family-owned and operated establishment offers three spacious, renovated farm-style cottages nestled among apple and pear orchards on a working fruit farm.
Each cottage features two bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with two single beds), a bathroom with shower facilities, and a fully equipped kitchen with modern amenities. The cottages are solar-powered with inverter systems to ensure continuous power supply. All units include private braai (barbecue) facilities, indoor cast iron fireplaces, free WiFi, and their own unique viewing aspects of the surrounding mountains.
The three distinct cottages - Panorama, Granny Smith, and Sundowner - each offer their own charm. Panorama provides spectacular views of the Groenberg Mountains with a spacious deck and garden braai area. Granny Smith features an undercover braai facility, while Sundowner boasts picturesque views of the Kogelberg mountains with a private courtyard.
The location is conveniently close to the N2 highway and local wedding venues, making it easily accessible from Cape Town. The area offers numerous attractions including wine farms, mountain biking trails, hiking routes, and the Elgin Railway Market. Visitors can also take day trips to nearby destinations such as Hermanus for whale watching or Betty's Bay to visit the African Penguin colony.
