Mowani Mountain Camp

Mowani Mountain Camp is a luxury sanctuary nestled in the dramatic landscapes of Damaraland, Namibia. The camp seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, situated among massive ochre boulders in this prehistoric terrain. Its design emphasizes the natural environment, with every architectural element framing unique views of the landscape.

The accommodation comprises 13 en-suite rooms offering valley or hilltop views, and 2 luxury suites featuring open-air bathrooms, spacious lounges, and private dining decks. The Luxury Room, specifically designed for less mobile guests, includes thatched roofing, glass-fronted doors, en-suite facilities, a mini fridge, and a private deck with plunge pool overlooking the valley.

The facility offers various activities including guided nature drives to spot desert-adapted elephants, visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein to explore rock engravings, and self-guided nature walks. Additional attractions include Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes excursions.

The camp's facilities include a boulder-carved swimming pool, a lounge and dining room with panoramic views, an outdoor boma area, a bar, and a dedicated viewpoint for sundowners. Additional amenities include a curio shop, limited Wi-Fi, and backup generator power.

Located in the Uibasen-Twyfelfontein Community Conservancy, the camp is approximately 550km from Windhoek and 320km from Swakopmund. The nearest airstrip is at Twyfelfontein, a 20-minute drive away.

Mowani demonstrates strong commitment to eco-tourism through community involvement, wildlife conservation, and environmental sustainability. This includes expanding their waterhole to accommodate elephant herds, supporting the desert lion project, and implementing various eco-friendly practices such as using solar geysers and energy-saving bulbs.

The camp is child-friendly, with specific accommodation arrangements for young guests. Weather conditions vary significantly, with summer temperatures reaching 38°C and winter temperatures ranging from 18-25°C during the day, potentially dropping below freezing at night.
