Mudlark River Front Lodge

The Mudlark River Front Lodge is a serene oasis situated in a secluded location, surrounded by majestic whales, vibrant fish, fragrant fynbos, and captivating bird life. It is located on a sprawling 22-hectare property, which is part of the esteemed Lower Breede River conservancy. The lodge is perfectly situated on the river bank, approximately 2 kilometers from the charming villages of Witsand and Infanta, a short 3-hour journey from Cape Town.

The lodge features magnificent views up and down the Estuary, with not a single habitation in sight. Surrounded by fynbos on three sides and embraced by the gentle flow of the river, the Mudlark faces north, offering protection from the ever-present sea breezes. To enhance the experience, the lodge provides moorings and a private jetty, along with the exclusive "Boat house" right at the water's edge.

The lodge comprises a central timber lodge that houses the entertainment and dining areas. It features a cozy fireplace for chilly winter evenings, as well as DSTV for entertainment. The communal dining area overlooks the river, treating guests to a breakfast with a view. Additionally, a serene lounge with river views and a congenial bar exclusively for guests awaits, creating the perfect atmosphere to forge new friendships.

Outside, guests can enjoy a spacious covered leisure deck with exceptional panoramic views, perfect for basking in the sun's warm embrace or indulging in sundowners while witnessing the fiery sun kiss the Potberg mountains. With a maximum capacity of just 10 guests, the Mudlark promises an intimate escape from the crowds.

The five comfortable double rooms, also constructed from timber, are thoughtfully positioned on both sides of the main lodge, each boasting magnificent river views. These elegantly appointed rooms offer single or double beds and come with en-suite facilities. Every room is exquisitely decorated with delicate furnishings, creating a sense of warmth and familiarity reminiscent of home. Rooms 4 and 5 are large doubles with extra sleeper couches for children and with elevated decks overlooking the river.

The Mudlark River Front Lodge is owned and managed by the friendly hosts, Hilary and Tim, ensuring that guests experience unparalleled hospitality and personalized service. Rates are per person sharing and include a sumptuous full English breakfast and a delectable three-course dinner.
