Murrayfield Guest House

Murrayfield Guest House is a characterful and gracious village home that was built in the 1850s. It is situated in Nieu Bethesda, a Karoo village in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, approximately an hour's drive from the town of Graaff-Reinett. The guest house is set in a country garden with a barn, dam, and orchard.

Murrayfield Guest House is a stunning example of a Victorian farmhouse. It features a lovely front veranda ideal for enjoying sunsets and stargazing, high ceilings with fans to combat the summer heat, a fireplace for cozy winter evenings, an old-fashioned full-length bath for relaxing after a country walk, a large veranda overlooking the garden, and a brick barbecue area.

The guest house is artistically and entertainingly furnished with a combination of old and new pieces. It is equipped with heaters, electric blankets, bed linens, towels, and tea and coffee-making facilities. There are three units available that can be rented separately or together.

Nieu Bethesda is a picturesque and authentic Karoo village situated in a beautiful valley. It was founded in the mid-nineteenth century, and the village features many wonderful country homes that exemplify the Victorian architecture of that period. The village offers various activities, including good walking trails, birdwatching opportunities, an artistic and relaxed atmosphere for unwinding and enjoying creativity and tranquility, as well as a variety of dining options and things to do.
