Ndlovu Addo River Lodge is an eco-friendly establishment situated on the Sundays River, approximately 30 kilometers from the Addo Elephant National Park and 82 kilometers from Port Elizabeth International Airport. The lodge's story began in 2015 when its founders, Sophia from France and local resident Luc, met at Addo's Orange Elephant Pub. The name "Ndlovu," meaning elephant in Xhosa, was chosen to commemorate their meeting place near the famous elephant park.
The property operates on a semi off-grid system, ensuring uninterrupted comfort during power outages. The accommodation options include various cottages and a Safari Tent, each featuring private bathrooms, well-equipped kitchenettes, air conditioning, and patios with garden and river views. Cottage 5 offers additional luxuries with an outdoor shower and Jacuzzi. A separate holiday home, located 400 meters from the main guesthouse, provides two bedrooms and bathrooms, accommodating up to four guests, complete with a private pool, garden, and extensive braai area.
The lodge caters to nature enthusiasts, with local wildlife including monkeys, birds, fish, and insects as natural companions to guests' stays. Facilities include a communal swimming pool, braai/BBQ areas, complimentary Wi-Fi access, and canoeing opportunities on the Sundays River. For dining, the lodge offers frozen meal options that guests can prepare using air fryers provided in each unit, and breakfast can be ordered for delivery in picnic baskets. Children are exclusively permitted in Cottage 1.
