Nedile Lodge is an exclusive 5-star establishment situated in the Malaria-free Welgevonden Game Reserve, located three hours north of Pretoria in South Africa's Limpopo Province. The reserve, a declared Heritage Site encompassing 36,000 hectares, lies within the stunning Waterberg Biosphere and borders the Marekele National Park.
The lodge features five luxurious thatched suites strategically positioned between rocky outcrops on a north-facing slope, offering panoramic views of the Waterberg mountains. Two suites can be connected to create family units. Each suite is equipped with an en-suite bathroom featuring both indoor and outdoor showers, a private veranda, mini bar, and fireplace.
The main complex embraces a central African theme, comprising a lounge, bar, and dining area that extends onto seligna decks, seamlessly integrating with the natural surroundings. A rock boma provides an atmospheric outdoor dining space where guests can experience traditional South African hospitality around a campfire. The property also features a swimming pool designed to complement the bushveld setting.
The reserve is home to Africa's most prestigious wildlife, including the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino), along with giraffe, zebra, eland, and various antelope species. Visitors might also encounter more elusive creatures such as aardvark, brown hyena, spotted hyena, and honey badger. The lodge offers twice-daily game drives and guided bush walks led by experienced rangers.
Nedile Lodge has garnered numerous accolades, including recognition from the Tourism Grading Committee of South Africa and the American Express Accommodation Awards/AA Travel Guides, where it was named Best Game Lodge in 2007 and achieved subsequent commendations. The establishment combines luxury accommodation with exceptional wildlife experiences, gourmet dining, and personalized service.
