New Holme Nature Lodge is a relaxing and peaceful accommodation situated approximately halfway between Cape Town and Johannesburg. It is located 8 km off the N1 highway between Colesberg and Hanover, within the Karoo Hippo Conservancy. The lodge provides a perfect place to refresh after a long drive.

The Karoo Hippo Conservancy is home to the only hippo population in the Northern Cape. Visitors can observe the hippos at the hippo pool and enjoy sundowners, followed by a three-course evening braai. The wide, open spaces of the Karoo offer a tranquil environment for guests to unwind.

For those seeking more active pursuits, the lodge offers mountain biking, donkey cart rides, birding, night drives, and access to a local airstrip for flying activities. There are two guesthouses available, with wedding and conference facilities on site. The venue caters for weddings, farm-style events, weekend packages, and advanced bookings are recommended due to its popularity.

Daily activities include hippo drives every afternoon, where a guide takes visitors on a relaxing drive to the hippo pool. Guests can enjoy sundowners on the hippo deck while learning about the incredible story of the Karoo hippos from the guide. Night drives and birding drives are also available, offering opportunities to spot various nocturnal animals such as the aardwolf, Cape fox, bat-eared fox, African wildcat, aardvark, porcupine, striped polecat, and African striped weasel. Guided walks to see bushman etchings are offered as well.

The lodge is family-friendly and provides fixed tents or camping sites with ablution and braai facilities. Accommodations offer amenities such as air conditioning, electric blankets in winter, coffee and tea trays, and en-suite bathrooms. There is a central swimming pool on the property. Lunch and dinner are available at an additional charge, with advance bookings required.
