Ngama Tented Safari Lodge

The Ngama Tented Safari Lodge, which means "Place of the Eagles", is a delightfully intimate, family-run tented safari lodge that offers a true African experience. The lodge shares borders with the renowned Thornybush and neighbouring the famous Kruger National Park, where guests can experience the exhilaration of Big 5 sightings or take part in special interest safaris, such as walking or birding around the beautiful bushveld of Guernsey Private Nature Reserve.

The lodge invites guests to sit back, relax and enjoy the African sun, indulge in authentic traditional cuisine, head out on early morning game drives, or escape from it all by exploring the natural beauty of the bushveld from a hot-air balloon. It offers six modern, tented suites designed to provide a tranquil escape for city dwellers and travellers alike. The lodge has taken the utmost care to ensure guests experience pure relaxation accompanied by warm and welcoming African hospitality, focusing on the little things that really count.

Guests can enjoy the romance of canvas, with sounds of the wild and flickering lanterns lighting the camp grounds. They can feel the bushveld breeze into their tent or enjoy a view of the great outdoors from the luxurious bathtub. The intimate safari lodge has six modern, spacious tented chalets, designed after classic safari tents but with all the modern amenities. The tented chalets are designed to take advantage of their beautiful natural setting while ensuring guests can enjoy plenty of privacy. Each tented chalet has its own en-suite bathroom with a bath, separate shower, an outside shower for those wanting a more natural bush wash, and a private deck.

The main lodge area is a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a drink or good book while admiring the birdlife around the waterhole, while the sun deck around the pool in the lodge area is the perfect place for those who just want to sit back, relax and enjoy the African sun. Dinner and breakfast are enjoyed outside on one of the decks or around the fire on a chilly winter's night. The boma creates a truly memorable atmosphere, where guests enjoy dinner while taking in the sounds of the African bush. The lodge is a naturalist's paradise and endless hours can be spent exploring the great outdoors, with many activities to suit every mood. Small weddings with a maximum number of 30 guests as well as elopements are possible, with outside ceremonies with a rustic altar and receptions hosted at the main lodge. The lodge offers a selection of massage treatments conducted in the privacy of guests' own tents or in a dedicated massage tent. The Bush House is a family-friendly safari option, with exclusive use of the house allowing guests to enjoy privacy and tailor-make their stay to suit their families' needs. The Bush House features three bedrooms, one loft room, one room with its own bathroom including a bath and shower, two rooms and the loft sharing one bathroom with a bath, outside shower and in-bath shower, and an extra sleeper couch available for additional children.
