Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge

The Nooitgedacht Trout Lodge is situated in the Mpumalanga province, approximately three hours east of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is a luxury lodge located in a nature reserve, offering a romantic getaway, a fly fishing paradise, a venue for corporate events, and an intimate wedding venue.

The lodge provides comfortable and stylish accommodation in nine en-suite bedrooms, which are luxuriously furnished with double beds and single beds. Some rooms are equipped with open log fireplaces, baths, and private entrances, boasting breathtaking views of the lake, garden, and surroundings. The lodge serves hearty home-cooked meals prepared by dedicated chefs in a traditional open-plan kitchen and served in the congenial dining hall. A state-of-the-art wine cellar offers a wide range of white and red wines.

The renovated old dry-stone barn, formerly the original farmhouse, features modern facilities such as a full-size billiard table, Satellite Television, and a well-stocked bar. The lodge offers prime trout fishing opportunities in the Spekboom River and three lakes, catering to both experienced anglers and beginners. Guests can enjoy various activities, including hiking, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, 4x4 trails, hatchery tours, picnics, and sailing. The lodge's surroundings also provide opportunities for wildlife viewing, including soaring eagles, Cape Vultures, indigenous flora, prolific bird life, and various game species such as leopard, kudu, otters, and the elusive brown hyena.

The Nooitgedacht Trout Hatchery is a commercial trout-producing facility located on the Spekboom River within the Mount Anderson Catchment Reserve. With over 50 years of operation, the hatchery is renowned for supplying high-quality trout to fishing venues across South Africa, aiming to provide blemish-free, happy angling trout and offering some of the best fishing opportunities for anglers.
