The cottages are situated among three small dams that offer good Florida Bass and Tilapia fishing opportunities with conventional or fly fishing tackle. Numerous hiking trails are available in the area, including trails through the Ngome State Forest, one of South Africa's largest endemic forests, which presents a breathtaking sight. Unguided walks can be taken safely on the reserve as there is no dangerous game present.

The Ntibane Bushveld Hideaway offers a rich setting for superb bird watching, with a wide variety of African species, from Wahlberg Eagles to Pygmy Kingfishers, observable from the doorstep.
