Oakhurst Farm is a historic 640-hectare working farm located along the Garden Route in South Africa, with 200 hectares dedicated to pristine fynbos and indigenous forest. Currently operated by the Crowther family, who are sixth-generation descendants of the original owner Henry Dumbleton, the property offers various accommodation options for visitors seeking a rural retreat.
The accommodation includes the beautifully restored 150-year-old Forge, which sleeps six guests in two spacious king-size bedrooms and a mezzanine loft. Five Farm Cottages, each sleeping six people, are positioned along a forested area with a seasonal stream. These self-catering units feature fully equipped kitchens, wooden floors, and large decks with braai facilities. Select cottages include wood-fired hot tubs.
The Schoolyard, once serving as the farm's educational facility, has been converted into three semi-detached units, each accommodating five guests. The newest addition, Pastures Cottage, offers a four-sleeper unit with two queen bedrooms and expansive views of the farm's rolling pastures. The property also features eight Africamps luxury tents overlooking the Outeniqua Mountains.
Guests can enjoy numerous activities including mountain biking on 6km of forest single track, hiking to the farm's waterfall, horse riding, and fishing. The working dairy farm offers scheduled tours, and children can enjoy the adventure playground and jungle gym. The property includes a farm shop stocking local produce, including Oakhurst's Jersey milk and free-range eggs.
With 175 years of farming history, Oakhurst maintains its agricultural heritage while providing modern comfort and authentic farm experiences for visitors. The property also features the historic All Saints Church, built in 1876, which serves as a popular wedding venue.
