Ondudu Safari Lodge is located 14 kilometres west of Omaruru in Namibia's Erongo Region, nestled among the rugged granite koppies of the lower Erongo Mountains. As the founding member of the 2,000 square kilometre Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy, the lodge collaborates with 30 private landowners to preserve this diverse ecosystem.
The property sits at 1,245 meters above sea level within the remnants of a 130-million-year-old volcano. Ancient Bushmen rock paintings found among the boulders provide historical significance, with the local San people still maintaining their traditional ways and offering cultural tours to visitors.
The accommodation consists of nine twin/double tents, one family tent accommodating four people, two honeymoon suites, and a treehouse. The facilities are connected by raised wooden walkways and natural stone steps, leading to a main area featuring a restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, and sundowner deck.
The area boasts excellent hiking opportunities, with both guided and self-guided trails available. Wildlife enthusiasts can observe over 260 local bird species out of Namibia's approximately 900 total species. The location's minimal light pollution makes it ideal for stargazing, offering clear views of the Milky Way and various constellations.
Activities include sunrise and sunset experiences, nature drives, bush dining, and cultural visits to the Ju/'Hoansi San Living Museum. Guests can also explore Paula's Cave, named after its discovering archaeologist, or take guided tours to the historic town of Omaruru.
The lodge offers multiple trails, including the Pangolin, Gecko, Eagle Rock, Baboon, and Dassie trails, each providing unique perspectives of the landscape and wildlife. The property combines opportunities for both relaxation and adventure, allowing guests to experience the natural beauty of the Erongo region at their preferred pace.
