Otter's Bend Lodge is a unique travellers' "farmstay" situated on the banks of the Franschhoek River in the heart of the famous Cape Winelands. It is known for its relaxed farm atmosphere embraced by nature, with the sounds of birds, frogs, and the trickling of the river going by. Surrounded by magnificent mountains and famous wine farms, it is within walking distance of Franschhoek Village, which is known as the gourmet capital of South Africa.

The lodge provides the perfect base for exploring the area, whether it is hiking, biking, horse riding, or savoring and indulging in what the wine estates, restaurants, and shops have to offer. The adjoining twin and double en-suite log cabin style rooms lead out onto a deck situated among trees, located on the banks of the Franschhoek River. Two separate family cabins with limited self-catering facilities are also available.

There is a communal self-catering lounge/dining/kitchen area with a large open fire, a wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, and outdoor braai areas. A dip pool overlooking the riverbank offers the perfect spot to cool off in summer. Private cabins are available, set apart among the trees near the riverbank. They feature comfortable double beds and their own braai spot, subject to wind conditions.

The lodge is within walking distance of Franschhoek's famous restaurants, and late check-outs can be arranged. It is set next to the river, with an organic vegetable garden, an orchard, and many walks. Family rooms and camping facilities are available, and bikes can be hired. The village is within walking distance, and guests can pitch their own two-man tent in a sheltered spot among the pear trees.
