The Ouplaas Town Guest House is situated in Ottosdal, a town located in the North West Province of South Africa. The guest house itself is a sandstone building constructed in 1917, well-equipped to accommodate guests who are traveling. It offers a fully-catered facility with a charming atmosphere and a beautiful garden.

The guest house is owned and operated by Magdalena and Coert, who are known for their hospitality and stylish approach. Magdalena's love for music, people, interior decorating, and good food contributes to the distinctive character and atmosphere of Ouplaas.

Ottosdal lies on the R507 road, situated between the towns of Hartebeesfontein and Delareyville, northwest of Klerksdorp. Although the town may not seem remarkable at first glance, it is the only place where wonderstone, also known as pyrophyllite, is found and mined. Ottosdal also features the oldest annual agricultural show in the North West Province.

The town features several historical attractions, including a British fort, ancient war trenches, cemeteries, a Garden of Remembrance for soldiers killed during the Anglo-Boer War, the Old Water Mill built in 1860 (which is a National Monument), and Khoisan rock engravings on local farms. Today, Ottosdal is primarily a farming community with a few supermarkets and coffee shops.

Aside from its historical significance, Ottosdal offers various recreational activities such as golf, the opportunity to participate in the town's Nite marathon or Half Marathon, the ability to stay on local farms and game reserves, and the chance to visit the Bloemhof Dam, located just south of Ottosdal, which is considered one of the best fresh water fishing dams in the country.
