Paddahoek Cottage is an off-grid, authentic, and comfortable stone cottage situated on a quiet country lane in Vermaaklikheid. It has thick stone walls, a high ceiling, and a thatch roof, which keeps the building cool during summer. The living room features a closed door fireplace for cold winter days.

Guests have two options for sleeping arrangements. The first option is to utilize the queen-sized bed on the mezzanine level (accessible by stairs) and two single beds on the ground floor. The second option involves joining the two single beds on the ground level and adding a king-size Duve, while the loft bedroom functions with a queen-sized bed and two single duvets. Additionally, there is an outside shower with a hot water connection, complementing the bathroom.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a two-plate gas hob. The outside braai area also contains a traditional cast iron stove with excellent baking capacity. The lawn area is fenced, allowing well-behaved and friendly dogs that do not chase or harass wild or domestic animals.

The cottage operates off-grid, with bath and two-plate cooking hob driven by gas, LED lights, and a 300L fridge/freezer powered by the sun, eliminating the need for Eskom power. For internet and telecoms access, a cell phone signal booster (up to 3G) is provided, requiring guests to use their own cell phone and data.

Located 700m from the public slipway of the Duiwenhoks river, guests can use this access point to swim and launch watercraft. However, cars cannot be parked at this location, and boats or smaller watercraft cannot be moored there.

The loft bedroom is suitable for two adults comfortable with climbing a ladder to the mezzanine level. There are two single beds on the ground floor, and a large, covered porch/stoep with a braai and a cast-iron stove.
