Paddahoek Cottage

Paddahoek Cottage is an off-grid stone dwelling nestled in the tranquil countryside of Vermaaklikheid. The authentic structure features thick stone walls, high ceilings, and a traditional thatch roof, providing natural temperature regulation during warm seasons. The interior includes a living room equipped with a closed door fireplace for winter comfort.

The cottage offers flexible sleeping arrangements with two configurations. Guests can choose between a queen-sized bed in the mezzanine level accessible by stairs, complemented by two single beds on the ground floor, or alternatively, the ground floor single beds can be combined to form a king-size arrangement while maintaining the queen-sized bed in the loft. The property features a bathroom and an outdoor shower with hot water facilities.

The kitchen facilities include a gas-powered two-plate hob, while the outdoor area boasts a braai space and a traditional cast iron stove suitable for baking. The property welcomes well-behaved dogs within its fenced lawn area, provided they do not disturb local wildlife or domestic animals.

Operating entirely off-grid, the cottage utilizes gas for cooking and bathing, while solar power supplies the LED lighting and powers a 300L fridge/freezer combination. Communication needs are supported by a cell phone signal booster providing up to 3G coverage, though guests must supply their own devices and data.

The property's location offers convenient access to the Duiwenhoks river, with a public slipway situated 700 meters away, suitable for swimming and launching watercraft, though parking and mooring facilities are not available at this location.
