Penwarn Farm Lodge

Penwarn Farm Lodge is a rustic yet modern lodging establishment located in the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg, approximately 25 kilometers from the town of Underberg in South Africa. It is situated within an exquisite valley surrounded by lakes and borders Highlands Farm, which was established in 1886. The farm covers an area of over 3,400 hectares and is operated by the fifth generation of the Nicholson family, who raise cattle and sheep and cultivate crops like maize and potatoes.

The farm lodge offers an animal enthusiast's paradise, with zebras, hartebeest, and blesbok sharing the grasslands. Birdlife is abundant, and cranes and wild geese can be spotted from the comfort of the rooms. The ambiance of the farm is relaxed, rustic, and modern, making it suitable for various occasions such as weddings, conferences, family adventures, and romantic getaways.

Penwarn Farm Lodge features its own chapel situated near a beautiful lake overlooking the Drakensberg. It also has the famous Penwarn Bar, where guests can enjoy a refreshing drink and socialize. The venue can accommodate groups ranging from 30 to 160 guests and offers flexible packages that include accommodation for up to 30 guests. It has its own wedding coordinator and utilizes selected caterers to host events.

Guests at Penwarn Farm Lodge can partake in various activities such as bringing bicycles for children, canoeing, and arranging horse riding. The Kingfisher accommodation option sleeps two adults and features a queen room on the lower level, an open-plan kitchen and lounge with a TV and fireplace, a bathroom with a shower, and a verandah with a moveable braai.
