Picardie Guest Farm is a historic property situated in Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa. Located at the foot of the Paarl mountains beneath the National Afrikaans language monument, this working guest farm combines rich heritage with modern hospitality amenities.
The property's history dates back to 1689 when the Taillefert family was granted the farm along with the adjacent LaBorie property. The land stretched from the Berg River to the Paarl Mountain, and was later acquired by Adriaan Jacobus Louw, remaining in the Louw family for six generations. It was among the first four farms established in Suider Paarl, alongside La Concorde and Goede Hoop.
Today, Picardie offers diverse accommodation options, including double rooms, triple rooms, family suites, and self-catering cottages. The Lakeside accommodation features four family suites and single rooms, while the self-catering cottages accommodate up to five guests. The Akker Room, with its veranda overlooking the dam, provides a tranquil retreat for short-stay guests.
The guest farm serves multiple purposes, functioning as a wedding venue, conference facility, and event space. It houses the JanKan Farmstall, which celebrates farm lifestyle, and produces its own natural spring water, which is bottled and sold to the public. Despite being centrally located in Paarl, the farm maintains a peaceful atmosphere, removed from urban noise while remaining accessible to local amenities.
