Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is a nature reserve located a few minutes' drive from Plettenberg Bay. It offers an opportunity for visitors to experience abundant wildlife roaming the plains, with the sound of distant lion roars piercing the night and unforgettable African sunsets. The reserve is situated on over 2000 hectares of indigenous beauty and is malaria-free, home to Africa's Big 5 (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard), as well as over 150 different species of game and bird life.

The reserve provides accommodation at the Baroness Lodge, built in 1822 by the Baron von Pletten, an early South African pioneer and conservationist. The lodge features 10 spacious double suites, each opening onto rolling lawns, with cool interiors providing respite from the hot African afternoons. The suites are equipped with indoor showers and lounging bathtubs, allowing guests to relax and unwind.

Guests can enjoy a cooling outdoor pool or engage in croquet on the lawn. The outdoor boma, built over a dam, is a haven for sundowners and an opportunity to observe William, the resident hippopotamus, while taking in the distant view of Plettenberg Bay.

The reserve offers various activities for visitors, including horseback safaris that allow close interaction with wildlife, and two-hour game drives in open vehicles. Children are welcome, with an enclosed play area provided where they can stretch their legs while being curiously watched by zebras and wildebeest. The reserve also features a coffee shop, bar facilities, and a curio shop open to the public.

Visitors have the opportunity to experience the Big 4 (elephant, rhino, buffalo, and lion) on horseback, on foot, or in an open vehicle. The reserve provides spacious en-suite rooms with queen or king-size beds for accommodation.
