Poplar Guest House

Poplar Guest House is a basic accommodation establishment situated in the center of Ficksburg, a town situated at the foot of the Imperani Mountain in the scenic eastern Free State region of South Africa, renowned as the cherry capital of the country. The guest house offers a convenient base from which to explore the town and its surroundings.

Each of the guest rooms is named after the cherry trees in the backyard. The accommodation options include double and single rooms, with bedding and bath towels provided. Rooms 1, 2, and 3 share a central bathroom, while Rooms 4 and 5 share a complete bathroom down the passage. Room 6 is the only room with its own separate, complete bathroom.

Room amenities consist of clean drinking water, a coffee bar upon request, an open-view TV in each room, and a heater to combat the chill. Guests have access to secure safe parking and free Wi-Fi connectivity. As of September 4th, 2016, the guest house has its own water supply from a borehole and tank, with a pressure pump distributing water throughout the premises, ensuring a 24-hour water supply.

Ficksburg offers several dining options, including restaurants, coffee shops, and cafes. Visitors can enjoy the annual GWK Cherry Festival or the Cherry Jazz Festival, depending on the time of year. Additionally, guests can explore nearby attractions such as lion farms, game drives at the airport, and an 18-hole golf course in town.

The guest house also features a 4-wheeled caravan with a kitchen, wardrobes, basin, room divider, radio, one double bed, two single beds, and two hammocks. It shares a bathroom with a basin, shower, and toilet, along with a separate toilet for women, with Rooms 1, 2, and 3. Bird watching and fishing opportunities are available at the scenic Meulspruitdam resort.
