Pretoriuskop Rest Camp is located in the southwestern corner of the Kruger National Park, located among spectacular granite outcrops formed from molten rock that solidified approximately 3500 million years ago. One of these impressive granite domes is known as Shabeni Hill, situated near the camp. Pretoriuskop is the oldest rest camp in the Kruger National Park and stands out for its unique appearance, featuring brilliant red trees and exotic flowering plants, despite the rule to use only indigenous plants in rest camp gardens.

Visitors are advised to exercise caution as they may encounter various creatures, including bats, spiders, snakes, and scorpions, during their stay. The camp is located in a malaria zone, and visitors should take necessary precautions. The area experiences a summer rainfall climate, with hot and often balmy conditions from October to April, and warm, mild winters. Alcohol consumption is prohibited in all areas except booked accommodations, campsites, and restaurants.

Rates are subject to the number of adults and children staying, and quotes will include the 1% Community Levy but exclude daily conservation fees, which must be paid directly to the camp upon arrival. Visitors over 18 years old will be required to produce valid identification, such as an ID, passport, or driver's license, for scanning upon entering or exiting the park.

Various activities are offered at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp, including morning, sunset, and night game drives with experienced guides (children age 6 and over are permitted). Family units are available for accommodation, and children aged 6 and over are welcome to join the game drives. Campsites with communal ablutions and cooking facilities are also available, accommodating up to six guests per site. Additionally, guided wilderness walks and rhino, elephant, and lion tracking on foot are offered, with trained field guides and backup rifles accompanying groups of up to 8 people.
