Protea Farm is situated in the Koo Valley, 29 km from Montagu, in the heart of the scenic Route 62. The cold climate and winter snow in the valley provide the perfect conditions for producing apples and pears. During this time, proteas also blossom wild on the mountain.

The farm offers something special throughout each season, from the beautiful colors of the orchards during autumn to the icy winter nights where guests can snuggle in front of a fireplace, and the beautiful blossoms of spring. On vibrant summer days, visitors can enjoy swimming in the farm lake, exploring the beautiful hiking trails, and engaging in mountain biking through the idyllic territory.

Situated amidst untouched nature, Protea Farm offers three self-catering cottages where guests can relax and de-stress in tranquil surroundings. These rustic cottages are equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay.

In 1985, the farm started its legendary tractor excursions up the Langeberg Mountain, allowing visitors to fall in love with the peaceful surroundings. The tractor, pulling its load of passengers, meanders its way up the Langeberg Mountain to an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level. On the way, visitors can enjoy a bird's eye view of the Koo Valley, and once at the top, they can look down into the Robertson Valley below.

The cottage features an open-plan kitchen furnished with a microwave oven, two-plate stove, bar fridge, cutlery, and crockery. It has an indoor fireplace to provide extra warmth during cold winter evenings. The accommodation includes a double bedroom and a loft room upstairs with two single beds. Bedding and towels are provided. A bathroom with a shower leads from the main bedroom. The cottage has its own outside braai area with a grid, and the first load of wood is supplied free of charge.
