Pumula Central Drakensberg

Pumula is a family-owned rustic mountain log-house located at the foothills of the Central Drakensberg near the renowned Champagne Castle Hotel. It features a thatched roof and a welcoming lived-in ambiance. Situated within the World Heritage Site, Pumula offers visitors an opportunity to experience the breathtaking natural beauty and abundant biodiversity of the area. The establishment features magnificent views of the majestic Drakensberg, Cathkin Peak, Sterkhorn, and Champagne Castle, ensuring a truly enchanting experience.

Pumula can accommodate a maximum of 7 people. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms without showers, as well as a large lounge. The fully-equipped kitchen includes 2 refrigerators, a stove, and a microwave. The nearest shops are located within 4 km at Dragon Peak (Drakensberg Boys' Choir), should guests require any necessities. Children under 12 years of age pay half price for their stay. However, Pumula is no longer pet-friendly.

Check-in time is after 14:00, and check-out is by 10:00. An additional one-time cleaning fee of R300 is payable, which covers cleaning the house before the arrival of the next guests. A cleaner is available to guests during their stay, and arrangements can be made a day in advance with the caretakers, Laura and Richard. Firewood bundles are available for purchase from the caretakers.

The tariffs for Pumula are as follows: During the out-of-season period (excluding holidays and long weekends), the minimum fee is R950 per night for the cottage, inclusive of 4 people. Groups of more than 4 people are charged an extra R150 per person per night. During the holiday season, the minimum fee is R1,200 per night for the cottage, inclusive of 4 people. Groups of more than 4 people are charged an extra R300 per person per night. A minimum booking period of 4 days applies during the holiday season, while a minimum booking period of 3 days is applicable for long weekends.
