Punda Maria Rest Camp is located in the Kruger National Park, which is managed by Sanparks. It is situated in the northernmost part of the park, approximately 8 kilometers from the Punda Maria Gate. The camp is situated in the Sandveld region, often the botanical garden of the Kruger National Park, with numerous unique plant species found in the area. The game species commonly sighted in this region include impala, zebra, buffalo, elephant, eland, and sable.

The rates at the camp are subject to the number of adults and children staying. Quotes for accommodation include the 1% Community Levy but exclude the daily conservation fees, which are to be paid directly to the camp upon arrival. From September 1, 2017, all visitors over 18 years old are required to produce a valid identification document, such as an ID, passport, or driver's license, for scanning upon entering and exiting the park.

The camp offers safari drives with experienced guides who drive the groups, allowing visitors to spot various animals in the park and learn more about them. Family units are available for accommodation, and children aged 6 and over are welcome to join the game drives. Additionally, the camp offers campsites with communal ablution and cooking facilities, accommodating up to six guests per site.

Early morning game drives are available, and accommodation must be booked for the previous night at the camp. These drives do not include meals and typically depart around 4:30 AM in summer and 5:30 AM in winter, lasting for 3-4 hours. Experienced guides drive the groups during these game drives. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted to participate in these activities for safety reasons.
