Rack Rail Inn

The Rack Rail Inn is an establishment located on the corner of Second Street and First Avenue in Waterval Boven. It offers overnight accommodation for various types of guests, including backpackers, business representatives, tourists, or those seeking a weekend getaway at an affordable rate. The name "Rack Rail Inn" is derived from the "rack rail" or "tandrat," which was used to pull trains up the steep gradient between Waterval Onder and Waterval Boven.

The inn is situated in the original hostel that was built for railway employees in Waterval Boven. The main building dates back to 1929, while the wings were added in 1949. Accommodation is provided in rooms that share communal bathrooms, including twin rooms, double rooms, and a family room. Towels and linen are supplied for guests.

The Rack Rail Inn features a cozy dining room where a hearty breakfast and traditional South African dinner are served. Additionally, there is a TV room equipped with M-Net and DStv for guests' entertainment.
