Raptor Ridge Lodge is an exceptional accommodation establishment located on the Free State side of the Gariep Dam, bordering the Gariep Dam Nature Reserve. Positioned on an open plain approximately six minutes from the N1 highway, the lodge offers guests an immersive experience in nature with panoramic views of the Karoo landscape and Gariep Dam.
The establishment comprises four units, each equipped with single or double beds and featuring en-suite bathrooms. Every unit includes a private deck offering spectacular views of the surroundings. The lodge's facilities include a communal lounge, wooden deck, braai facilities, and shaded parking. In keeping with its eco-friendly ethos, the property operates on solar power and gas facilities, maintaining the natural tranquility of the environment.
Guests can enjoy a variety of activities including bird watching, cycling, mountain biking, stargazing, hunting, gliding, hiking trails, and game watching. The property offers opportunities to observe various wildlife including Blouwildebeest, Eland, Gemsbuck, Springbuck, and Blesbuck in their natural habitat. Some activities require prior arrangement, including the big hiking trail and mountain bike trail. Game watching excursions and hiking trail guides can be arranged with advance notice.
While the lodge doesn't have a liquor license, it offers cold beverages and snacks, and breakfast can be arranged upon request. The entire lodge, including the equipped kitchen and braai facilities, can be booked as a single unit, subject to availability. The establishment serves as an ideal stopover for travelers between Gauteng and Cape Town or Port Elizabeth, as well as those visiting the Gariep Dam area.
