Rhenosterkop Rest Camp, located within the Agulhas National Park managed by SanParks, is a historic accommodation site that dates back to the mid-18th century. The cottages were originally part of one of the oldest farms in the Strandveld region, established in 1742. The land was initially granted to Matthys Rostock Lourens for grazing rights in 1757, and later formally registered under the name of his son, Matthys Johannes Lourens, in 1836.

The farmstead consists of four typical Strandveld buildings constructed in the vernacular style of the region. The oldest structures are believed to have been built around the middle of the 18th century, while the most recent addition dates back to 1939/40. These cottages have undergone careful restoration to cater to modern-day visitors while preserving their historic charm.

The name "Rhenosterkop" is derived from the discovery of a Black Rhino skull in the area many years ago, which is currently preserved in the Springfield Estate museum. The cottages are situated approximately 31 kilometers from the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, accessible via the Struisbaai/Elim gravel road, spanning around 18 kilometers. While a 4x4 vehicle is not necessary, a high-clearance vehicle is recommended, especially during the wet season from June to August. It is advisable to contact the Park prior to booking to confirm the road conditions. The travel time from the reception office to the farmstead is approximately 45 minutes.

The accommodation units at Rhenosterkop Rest Camp feature one bedroom with two single beds, a toilet, and a shower. Amenities include hot water, refrigeration, solar-powered lighting, and gas cooking facilities. However, there are no provisions for charging electronic devices such as cell phones or batteries, and smoking is not permitted. The units are serviced every three days, with fresh towels and bedding provided. It is important to note that the facility is not located near the sea.
