Rhino River Lodge

Rhino River Lodge is a small and exclusive lodge set in the Zululand Rhino Reserve, home to the Big 5. The lodge offers a unique and personalized bush experience, including game drives, guided walks, traditional bush cuisine, and some of South Africa's finest wines. The Zululand Rhino Reserve is composed of a wide variety of habitat types and is home to a diverse array of animal and plant life.

Established as part of the World Wildlife Fund's black rhino range expansion program, the Manyoni Private Game Reserve introduced a population of endangered black rhinos, which have been thriving in the reserve since their introduction. Rhino River Lodge guests are frequently privileged with sightings of black rhinos during game drives. The lodge is also anticipating the arrival of a pride of lions, which they hope will thrive as successfully as the rhinos.

The lodge offers comfortable and attractive accommodation, including log cabins suitable for families and luxurious en-suite double units set under thatch roofs with private verandas overlooking the lodge grounds and riverbed. Guests can enjoy the swimming pool area, which offers a respite from the midday heat, and the lounge and dining room, set high on the banks of the Msunduze River, surrounded by magnificent Sycamore Fig and Fever Trees overlooking the riverbed. The boma, where guests can enjoy evening cocktails around the campfire, is a highlight for many visitors.

The lodge serves hearty home-style meals featuring traditional South African flavors, dishes, and cooking styles, accompanied by a selection of some of the finest affordable wines from South Africa. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, and walking safaris (subject to availability upon arrival), offering exceptional game viewing and birdwatching opportunities, with over 350 bird species recorded.
