Rivierplaas Campsite

Rivierplaas Campsite is a peaceful retreat located in Scherpenheuwel, south of Worcester, South Africa, situated on the banks of the Breede River. The campsite is approximately an hour and a half drive from Cape Town and operates as part of a working farm.

The facility offers extensive lawns and child-friendly play areas, with a focus on tranquility as no music is permitted. Amenities include a deep swimming area, zipline (foefie slide) into the river, braai facilities, hot water showers, and flushing toilets. Guests have access to inner tubes, canoes, and rafts at no additional cost. The site features a 2.5km hiking trail and is popular among nature enthusiasts and bird watchers, with approximately 200 bird species regularly observed in the area.

The campsite accommodates tents, bush-trailers, motor-homes, and caravans, though no electricity is available. Basic camping supplies such as ice, wood, insect repellent, beverages, and seasonal farm produce are available for purchase on-site. Several award-winning wine cellars in the vicinity offer tastings.

The property features 41 individual campsites varying in size from 72m² to 336m², accommodating between 4 to 12 people per site. Sites offer different levels of shade (0-70%), grass coverage (0-90%), and river views. Each site has specific vehicle limitations ranging from 2-4 vehicles per site.

Pet-friendly policies allow well-behaved animals that interact positively with other pets and people, particularly children. Owners must clean up after their pets and be mindful of resident farm animals and wildlife. The facility emphasizes consideration for other campers and the working farm environment.
