Roy's Rest Camp is a family-owned establishment that has operated since 1995 on farm Elandsgate in the Grootfontein district of Namibia's Otjozondjupa region. The property, spanning 2,800 hectares, is one of the district's oldest farms, dating back to 1930 when it belonged to the Alberts family and originated from the historical Dorslandtrek settlement.
Located 56 kilometers north of Grootfontein, the camp serves as a strategic stopover point between Windhoek, Rundu, and the Zambezi Region. The establishment features distinctive rustic African design elements, including a thatched main building housing a restaurant and bar. The dining area showcases unique architectural features such as tree trunk roof supports, animal skin-covered bar stools, and chairs with kudu horn armrests.
The camp maintains strong cultural ties to its Boerekos culinary heritage, which originated from Dutch, German, and French influences brought to the Cape of Good Hope. A notable feature of the property is its small, spotlit waterhole that attracts various indigenous wildlife, including different buck species, warthogs, and numerous bird varieties. The camp's creatively designed walkways and surroundings contribute to its distinctive atmosphere, offering visitors an authentic African bush experience.
