Satara Rest Camp, located in the Kruger National Park and operated by Sanparks, is a bustling camp situated in an excellent game viewing area. The bush in this region is relatively open, allowing for abundant and diverse wildlife sightings. The camp itself exudes a rustic charm, with the majority of the accommodation arranged in a series of circles. Satara is well-wooded, and the bird-life is prolific.

At night, the clinks of fruit bats intermingle with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars contribute to the symphony, punctuated intermittently by the whoops of hyenas, the screeches of jackals, and the roars of lions. Please note that rates are subject to the number of adults and children staying, and quotes will include a 1% Community Levy but exclude daily conservation fees, which must be paid directly to the camp upon arrival. Additionally, from September 1, 2017, all visitors over 18 years old will be required to present a valid form of identification, such as an ID, passport, or driver's license, upon entering or exiting the park.

The camp offers safari drives with experienced guides, allowing guests to spot various animals in the park and learn more about them. Family units are available, and children aged 6 and over are welcome to join the game drives. Campsites with communal ablutions and cooking facilities are also available, accommodating up to six guests per site. Accommodation must be booked for the previous night at the camp, and no meals are provided.

Additionally, guided wilderness walks are offered, where up to eight guests are taken to interesting places in the surrounding areas adjacent to most of the camps. These relaxed walks are led by experienced and armed guides who share their knowledge of the bush and explain natural wonders. Trained field guides with backup rifles also take groups of up to eight people out into the bush for a few hours, tracking rhinos, elephants, and lions on foot, and sharing fascinating facts about the African bush. Please note that children under 13 are not permitted on these wilderness walks.
