Scalarhoney Lodge

Scalarhoney Lodge is situated in the midst of the Tsitsikamma mountains, accessible via Route 62/Kareedouw or Joubetina. It offers an off-grid experience in the Tsitsikamma Mountain Reserve, a private nature reserve considered a "Heaven on Earth". The lodge features a rustic eco cabin constructed from natural materials, including a quartz crystal mosaic floor designed to cleanse and heal body, mind, and soul.

The cabin provides crystal clear spring drinking water, organic Honeybush tea, Fynbos pure organic honey, Honeybush-infused gin and vodka, as well as herbal spices. It is equipped with a self-contained kitchen unit, utensils, a gas fridge/freezer, gas cooker, and hot water. The bathroom has a shower and flush toilet. The rustic outdoor cabin is located on a river bank with river rapids and a rock pool on the doorstep.

The self-catering cabin accommodates two guests on a king-size bed, with a sleeper couch for one small child. Linens and towels are provided. Please note that 24/7 internet is not available, and booking confirmation may take up to 48 hours. The cabin is secluded, with its own braai area and parking space, situated amidst trees on the riverbank.

Guests can enjoy easy mountain hikes in the kloof and up to various river rapids and waterfalls through fynbos, fern, and tree forests. There are many natural swimming ponds to explore during the walks. The lodge also offers a private glamping site, The Buchu Treehouse, situated in a Keurboom and fynbos forest along the riverbed. The Buchu glamping site is a 250-meter walk from the parking area and accommodates two adults on a king-size bed and one child on a single bed. It features a kitchenette with cooking utensils, a gas cooker, a small fridge/freezer, a hot shower, a camp toilet, and a flush toilet.

Scalarhoney Lodge is located 80 kilometers by road from Stormsriver/Tsitsikamma village. It is not ideal as a base for touring the Garden Route area but is more suitable for retreating and hiking for a couple of days. The lodge offers various hiking trails through indigenous fynbos forest species, including the protea family, as the mountain reserve is the source of organic Honeybush tea. Tsitsikamma Mountain Reserve is a bird watcher's paradise.
