Schoone Oordt Country House

Schoone Oordt Country House is a charming rural hotel situated in a leafy garden in Swellendam, Western Cape. The Victorian townhouse focuses on luxury, elegance, quality, and attention to detail. The property was lovingly renovated by Richard and Alison Walker.

Accommodation comprises eight Luxury Rooms, a Honeymoon Suite, and two Family Suites, which are more private and separate from the other guest rooms. All rooms are beautifully decorated with unique, restored antiques featuring a Victorian feel, complementing the building. The rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, a bar fridge, tea- and coffee-making facilities, satellite TV, an electronic safe, underfloor heating, and heated towel rails in the bathrooms. The beds are made up with cotton percale linen and down duvets, and embroidered gowns and slippers are provided for an extra luxurious touch. The Luxury Rooms and Honeymoon Suite have fireplaces.

The mansion features a beautiful, sunny conservatory built in true English style by Richard. It features a fireplace-lit bar and lounge, an intimate dining room, and a typical country kitchen. The warmth of the original wooden floors, ceilings, doors, and antiques create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to return time and again. Guests can also enjoy the sparkling saltwater pool.

Meals are prepared with love and served in true Schoone Oordt style, using only the freshest and best quality products carefully purchased from local suppliers, as well as fresh herbs and sometimes vegetables from the guest house's garden. Breakfast is a gourmet affair, and the country hotel has become popular as a result. Free afternoon tea with homemade salty and sweet snacks is served on sunny summer afternoons, while in winter, guests are welcomed with a free snack board and a warm drink.

The Family Cottage is located at the top end of the property, providing privacy, coziness, and separation from other guests. It features two extra-length single beds in an upstairs loft area accessible by stairs and an extra-length king-size bed for parents downstairs.
