Setari Camp

Lodging

Rated 4.9 in 44 Reviews

Setari Camp, Kala Camp, and Treehouse are situated in a private 120,000-acre concession (NG 24) within the Okavango Delta, one of the world's most extraordinary natural wonders. The Okavango Delta spans 15,000 square kilometers of palm-fringed islands, thick woodland, and intricate waterways, representing the largest intact inland delta globally.

The flagship Setari Camp is located on Little Duba island, measuring 1.2 kilometers by 700 meters, surrounded by seven lagoons and palm trees. Built as an elevated treehouse structure, the camp features connected walkways above ground level, linking accommodation areas with main facilities and offering panoramic views of the surrounding waterscape. This deep-water environment focuses on aquatic experiences rather than traditional big game viewing.

Kala Camp, opened in 2022, offers a more intimate experience with six spacious Meru tents. Located southeast of Setari, it provides seasonal activities: boating and mokoro rides from April to September, and game drives during the remaining months. The camp's location enables excellent walking safaris across vast floodplains and islands.

Treehouse, launched in June 2023, is an exclusive facility accommodating six guests across four levels. Each suite features expansive decking areas overlooking the Okavango waters. Similar to Kala Camp, its southern location allows for seasonal activities, with boating in wet months and game drives in dry periods, plus year-round walking opportunities.

Access to the camps is via a thirty-five-minute light aircraft flight from Maun. While the area may not focus on large predators or herds, it offers an authentic Okavango Delta experience with its characteristic papyrus reed beds, permanent channels, and lagoons.
