Shankara Rest Camp

Shankara Rest Camp is located on the banks of the Kavango river, positioned 81 kilometers east of Rundu on the B8 road, with a further 4 kilometers along the D 3402 road. The camp's precise location can be found at GPS coordinates S-17 96.435 E20 50.660.

The establishment offers a serene setting featuring a beautiful garden with lush lawns and large indigenous trees providing ample shade. The property comprises 6 fully-equipped self-catering chalets and 15 camping sites with electrical connections. Shankara Rest Camp has built a strong reputation for its fishing excursions, led by a guide with more than 25 years of experience and extensive knowledge of the river system. The waters are home to various fish species, with Tiger fish, multiple Briem species, and catfish being the most sought-after catches. Notable records include a Tiger fish of 8.5 kg, a Nemwe of 3.5 kg, and a catfish weighing 14 kg, all caught and released.
