Shingwedzi Rest Camp Kruger National Park Sanparks

Shingwedzi Rest Camp is located in the northern part of the Kruger National Park in South Africa, amidst the Mopane vegetation. It offers a rustic accommodation experience in the untamed bush, devoid of modern technology. The camp features separate accommodation circles, and evenings are illuminated by the warm glow of braai stands, creating a tranquil ambiance.

A scenic game drive along the Shingwedzi River, heading southeast towards the Kanniedood Dam, is considered one of the most rewarding drives in the Kruger National Park. Visitors can frequently spot waterbuck, nyala, kudu, and elephants in this area, as well as a rich variety of birdlife.

The camp offers safari drives led by experienced guides, allowing guests to observe and learn about the various animals in the park. Family units are available, and children aged 6 and older are welcome to join the game drives. Campsites with communal ablutions and cooking facilities are also available, accommodating up to six guests per site. Accommodation must be booked for the same night at the camp, and no meals are provided.

Additionally, the camp offers nocturnal activities, where guests can witness the secretive creatures of Kruger at night. These activities are led by experienced guides, with the sunset drive departing at 17:00 and lasting at least 3 hours. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted to participate in these activities for their own safety.

Please note that the rates displayed are subject to the number of adults and children staying. Quotes will include the 1% Community Levy but exclude daily conservation fees, which must be paid directly to the camp upon arrival. From September 1, 2017, all visitors over 18 years old are required to produce a valid identification document, such as an ID, passport, or driver's license, for scanning upon entering or exiting the park.
