Shipwreck Lodge stands as the sole accommodation within the desolate Skeleton Coast of Namibia, positioned in the far north-west region near the Atlantic Ocean. Located between the Huarusib and Hoanib rivers, approximately 45 km north of Möwe Bay, the lodge opened in June 2018 with a unique design inspired by the numerous shipwrecks scattered along the coastline.

The accommodation comprises 8 twin/double cabins and 2 family units, all featuring en-suite facilities and powered by solar energy. Each room is equipped with a shower, toilet, washbasin, writing desk, bedside lamp, and a private deck. Rooms also include coffee and tea stations with refillable hot water flasks.

The Skeleton Coast's harsh history is reflected in its Portuguese nickname "The Gates of Hell," with over a thousand shipwrecks along its shores. Despite the unforgiving environment, the area supports diverse wildlife including lions, elephants, brown hyenas, jackals, gemsbok, and various smaller species.

The lodge offers numerous activities including guided drives exploring the Skeleton Coast's history and natural wonders, 4x4 adventures to the Clay Castles along the Hoarusib River, beach lunches, sundowner drives atop the dunes, sandboarding, and quad bike excursions. These experiences are led by knowledgeable guides who provide insights into the local ecosystem and wildlife.

Combining luxury accommodations with unparalleled service, Shipwreck Lodge provides guests with a unique opportunity to explore this historically rich and environmentally dramatic coastline while enjoying modern comforts in an isolated setting.
