Simbavati Hilltop Lodge

Simbavati Hilltop Lodge is an exclusive safari destination nestled in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger Park. The lodge occupies a strategic position atop a small koppie, offering panoramic views of the surrounding bush, the Nhlaralumi River, and the Drakensberg Mountain Range in the distance.

The accommodation features pavilion-style luxury tents thoughtfully arranged in a village-like setting. Each suite comprises two separate tents connected by a passage - one housing the main bedroom and another for the bathroom. The connecting passage can be opened on one side, allowing guests to choose between indoor and private outdoor shower experiences. While some suites offer spectacular views, they are accessed by steep stairs, which may require consideration for guests with mobility concerns.

The reserve is home to diverse wildlife, including the Big 5 and over 40 mammal species, with endangered species such as wild dogs and cheetahs frequently spotted. The area also boasts rich birdlife, with 360 recorded species. Game activities are scheduled during optimal wildlife viewing times in the early morning and late afternoon or evening, with regular nocturnal sightings of big cats and other creatures.

The lodge provides a comprehensive safari experience with experienced field guides and Shangaan trackers conducting game drives in open 4X4 vehicles, ideal for photography enthusiasts. Additional amenities include traditional African massage services performed by skilled therapists, and a welcoming lounge stocked with books and board games.
