Avg per night for 2 guests

Simunye Zulu Lodge is tucked away in the magnificent Mfule River Valley, in the sheltering embrace of a high cliff. It offers an opportunity to experience the cross-cultural influences that have emerged since Zulu and Western culture first interacted in the pioneer days. On arrival at the old trading store, guests park their cars in a secure and guarded area. After receiving a short overview of the history of the area, they proceed by horse, ox-wagon, Ganda Ganda tractor, donkey cart, on foot or by 4x4 on request, on a one-hour trail accompanied by a guide.

The lodge provides a gentle mix of traditional Zulu homestead and experiences, and world-class hospitality and leisure activities. It offers a variety of accommodation options, with each room uniquely crafted by the Zulu community using natural materials from the valley. All the lodgings are comfortably furnished and have private bathrooms with showers. Guests can feel the pulse of yesteryear as they journey to the secluded lodge at sunset. After sundowners and dinner, they can sit spellbound around the fire as Zulu legends unfold and the rhythmic drumbeat of Africa fills the night. They can soak in steaming rock baths and drift off to sleep in stone-walled rooms to the tranquil sounds of Zululand.

Simunye, a declared Natural Heritage Site, is located approximately 20 km from Melmoth in Zululand. It offers vibrant Zulu dancing, where guests can join in or simply relax as the drumbeat draws them into the pulse of Africa. Visitors can walk and visit the village of their hosts and enjoy a hearty brunch next to the river. The Cattle Station Pub brings the South African heritage to life, offering a full-bar service, including Zulu beer, surrounded by artifacts from the Anglo-Zulu war, Zulu kings, and early pioneers. The lodge features three Africa Rooms with hand-sewn and Zulu du00e9cor.
