Skeiding Guest Farm

Skeiding Guest Farm is a working ostrich farm strategically located along the N2 highway, midway between Cape Town and Knysna in the Western Cape, South Africa. The property, situated on elevated terrain, offers stunning panoramic views of the Langeberg mountains and is owned and operated by Neels and Annè-Lize, who manage both the farm operations and guest accommodation while raising their young family.

The establishment offers both bed and breakfast accommodation and self-catering options, featuring six rooms and four cottages. Each unit is well-appointed with modern amenities including en-suite bathrooms, climate control features, and luxury touches such as ostrich leather slippers and gowns. The rooms and cottages are thoughtfully named after local flora and fauna, reflecting the region's rich biodiversity and appeal to bird enthusiasts.

A highlight of the guest experience is the authentic South African farm-style cuisine served in the sunny restaurant. The hosts take pride in their traditional farm kitchen, with Annè-Lize and her team preparing home-cooked country meals, while Neels handles the open-fire meat preparation. Three-course dinners are served at the family dining table, and the kitchen accommodates special dietary requirements and occasions.

One of the farm's most popular attractions is the daily farm tour conducted by Neels at 07:30. This hands-on experience allows guests to feed ostriches, observe working dogs (Border Collie and Australian Kelpie) herding sheep, and interact with various farm animals. The experience is particularly educational for urban visitors, and the farm's warm, hospitable atmosphere ensures guests feel like part of the family.
