The Soweto Hotel and Conference Centre is located in Kliptown, a suburb of the former black township of Soweto in Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated approximately 17 km southwest of Johannesburg. Kliptown is the oldest residential district of Soweto and was first laid out in 1891 on land that formed part of the Klipspruit farm, which was named after the nearby klipspruit (stream). The population of Kliptown ranges between 38,000 and 45,000 people.

The hotel offers 46 uniquely decorated Deluxe Rooms and two individually decorated Presidential Suites. Some rooms overlook the historic Union Street of Kliptown or the Eternal Flame on the Walter Sisulu Square of Dedication, and others feature balconies with views of Kliptown and neighboring locations in Soweto. Each room is equipped with a business desk, high-speed Internet access, in-room television with DStv channels, electronic safe, hairdryer, international direct dial access, and 18-hour in-room dining service. Designated rooms are available for smokers and guests with special needs.

The hotel's restaurant serves a traditional township buffet featuring dishes such as mogodu, mnqushu, morogo, and roasted butternut, as well as a menu curated by Chef Jafta that caters to various tastes, including smoked ostrich Carpaccio served with fruit salsa and the signature Sizzling Jazz Maniacs Fillet served with mushrooms on a polenta patty. The 60-seat Jazz Maniacs Restaurant is named after the famous Jazz Maniacs group from the 1950s, an era of jazz development in South Africa. Local jazz artists perform at the elegantly decorated venue, entertaining diners with jazz from the past and contemporary musical sounds.
