Stanley Island Private Nature Reserve is the only privately-owned island in South Africa. It is situated in the spectacularly beautiful Keurbooms Lagoon. The 28-hectare nature reserve has its own indigenous forest, a 1000-meter grass runway, magnificent birdlife, and secluded thatched chalets. Game roams freely among the chalets, and there are long stretches of private beach.

The island serves as a wonderful base for all water sports and is ideally positioned for exploring the Plettenberg Bay area. Privacy is a priority, and escaping the mainland is a mere ferry trip away. Guests have full use of canoes, and motorboats are available for rent. Residents and guests can access the island by small aircraft or the island's own ferry.

Stanley Island is a family-friendly private island nature reserve in the Keurbooms River, located 5 minutes from Plettenberg Bay. The island features several secluded beaches overlooking the river. The three family self-catering accommodation units have two interleading en-suite rooms, a central open-plan kitchen, a lounge with a countertop dining area, and an outdoor patio with braai facilities. Each unit sleeps four guests, with space for additional beds for children upon request. Two units are upstairs, and one is downstairs. For large families, two family units can be combined to accommodate eight guests in one cottage.
