Stonebreaker Country Lodge

Stonebreaker Country Lodge was constructed in 1997, consisting of thatched buildings designed to blend in with the natural surroundings. The name "Stonebreaker" is derived from a Stone Breaker Machine that was previously utilized at the quarry located on the property until 1962.

The thatched Lodge is equipped with modern amenities and elegantly furnished en-suite rooms that exude an African ambiance, creating a comfortable and homely atmosphere. Guests can relax by the sparkling swimming pool, enjoying the peaceful murmur of the nearby river and taking in the unspoilt views of the surrounding mountains and star-studded night skies. The establishment prides itself on providing personal attention and unique Klein Karoo hospitality.

Visitors can embark on a half-hour hike along the lodge's registered succulent trail, leading up the mountains and offering spectacular vistas of the lodge and its surroundings. The trail can be steep and slippery in certain areas, making it advisable to wear appropriate climbing shoes. Guests may be serenaded by the distinct whistle calls of klipspringers from the nearby mountains, either in the moonlight or at sunrise. The hike is sure to work up an appetite for the hearty traditional English breakfast served at the lodge.

Accommodation is provided in modern thatched chalets, boasting eleven luxurious en-suite rooms. The charming honeymoon suite promises a special and unforgettable experience. Privacy is ensured as the units are situated at least 15 meters away from the main complex and feature covered porches with uninterrupted views of the majestic Poort and beautiful surrounding gardens. All rooms are equipped with a large glass shower, towels, DSTV, air conditioning, hair dryer, shampoo, soap, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Swimming towels are provided for hot summer days, while warm winter blankets and soft cushions for outdoor seating are available in the room cupboards. The lodge offers five double rooms, two family rooms, three triple rooms, and one single room, ensuring personal attention to detail and warm hospitality, complemented by picturesque mountain and landscape views.

Stonebreaker Country Lodge holds a 4-Star grading by the TGCSA and is highly recommended by the AA.
