St Helena Bay is a popular tourist destination, particularly during the spring wild flower season, attracting visitors from around the world for relaxation and recreation. The village is backed by ancient granite hills and boulders, offering stunning views of the bay and across to the Piketberg mountains, while the white sandy beaches are suitable for beach-combing and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean.

Storm Petrel is a two-bedroom cottage situated approximately 1 km from the sandy beach and safe swimming waters. It features a main bedroom with a double bed and a second bedroom with twin beds, as well as a full family bathroom. The cottage has a fully equipped open-plan kitchen, dining room, and lounge leading out onto a patio with a braai area. It features lovely sea views across the bay to Lamberts Bay.

St Helena Bay is one of the most popular bays for whales to visit and calve. From August to November, Southern Right whales come into the bay to calve and can be viewed from the shore all around the bay. Humpback whales are also present in the area. Small pets are accommodated at Storm Petrel.

Heaviside dolphins are found in large numbers at any time, along with schools of Dusky and Common dolphins. Large groups can be seen chasing fish along the shore or simply swimming through the waves. Storm Petrel has a unique outdoor bathroom, allowing stargazing while bathing or showering, and a cozy indoor fireplace. It offers some of the best sunrises and sunsets over the bay. The cottage is only 600 meters from the sea, and the hills behind are great for hiking, all in an exceptionally safe environment.

Storm Petrel overlooks the whole of St Helena Bay and Sandy Point Fishing harbour, where Snoek, Crayfish boats, as well as Anchovy and Sardine Purse-seine netting boats operate. Safe beaches and excellent restaurants are within walking distance. The self-catering cottage features a double bed in the main bedroom, two single beds in the second room, and a sleeper couch in the living area. It includes a bathroom with a shower, basin, and toilet, as well as a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor sheltered braai area. TV easy view only is available, or guests are welcome to bring their own decoder.
