Storms River Mouth Rest Camp Garden Route Sanparks

The Storms River Mouth Rest Camp is located in the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park, which is managed by South African National Parks (SANParks). The park protects a coastal region where the Indian Ocean meets the shore, with booming breakers pounding rocky shorelines. The landscape features temperate high forest and fynbos vegetation rolling down to the sea in an unspoiled verdant carpet. Ancient rivers have carved their paths to the ocean through rocky ravines, earning the area the name "the place of much water".

The park extends 5 km into the sea, safeguarding a wonderland of intertidal life, reefs, and deep-sea fish. Dolphins frolic in the breakers, surfing and playing joyfully, and the gentle giant of the ocean, the southern right whale, visits the area to breed. The Garden Route National Park, comprising the Tsitsikamma, Knysna, and Wilderness sections, enjoys a pleasant, temperate climate unique in Africa, with rainfall occurring throughout the year, mostly at night. This climate makes it an ideal destination for visits at any time of the year.

The Garden Route National Park offers a variety of fun and adventurous activities as well as excellent facilities, including hiking trails, nature walks, and more. At the Storms River Mouth Rest Camp, all accommodation, ablution, and kitchen facilities are serviced by cleaning staff on a daily basis. Bedding is currently supplied in all accommodation units except for camping. Cooking utensils and refrigeration are provided in most accommodation units, with exceptions indicated at the time of booking. The rates are subject to the number of adults and children staying, and quotes include a 1% Community Levy but exclude daily conservation fees, which are to be paid directly at the camp upon arrival.

During school holidays, a holiday program and activities for school groups are available. The Oceanette units overlook the ocean, and there is a small beach. Visitors must supply their own caravans and camping equipment, and power points are available. Additional vehicles are charged a fee per night. The rates exclude the compulsory SANParks community levy, which will be included in the quote, and SANParks daily conservation fees, which are payable upon arrival at the camp.
