The Talbot Trout Farm is situated in the "Trout Triangle" region of the Mpumalanga Highlands, between the towns of Dullstroom and Machadodorp. It is a two and a half hour drive from Gauteng. The farm encompasses an area of 280 acres, featuring spectacular hills, valleys, and incredible views, as well as three trout ponds.

Self-catering accommodation is available in four cottages: Protea, Agapanthus, Kiepersol, and Rose Cottage. These cottages are well-equipped with all the necessary amenities for a weekend getaway. Each cottage is private, with a fireplace, outdoor braai facilities, and en-suite bathrooms with showers in the bedrooms.

The farm adheres to an environmentally friendly policy. The cottages utilize the farm's mineral water, which undergoes filtration to produce extremely pure water. Additionally, the cottages are powered by solar panels, providing a stable supply of 220V electricity. However, it is important to note that the power supply is not sufficient for electrical appliances with heating elements, such as hair dryers.

The farm is home to various animals, including blesbok, ribbok, zebras, gemsbuck, springbok, donkeys, a Shetland pony, and a few geese. Approximately 150 different bird species have been spotted on the farm premises. Fish eagles and various waterfowl are also frequent visitors to the farm's dams.

The farm features ten trout dams that are stocked annually, making it a popular destination for catch-and-release fishing. One of the cottages, which is located in a beautiful fenced garden and powered by solar energy, features two en-suite bedrooms with queen-sized beds, a small kitchen, a lounge with a fireplace, and verandas with braai facilities. The cottage's cozy and snug decoration creates a homely ambiance. Additionally, it offers river frontage, a waterfall, and close proximity to dams.
