Tau Game Lodge

Tau Game Lodge is a privately-owned establishment located in the Malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve in the Great Marico area along South Africa's Northern border. Built in 1995, the lodge was thoughtfully designed to integrate with its natural surroundings, featuring a prominent waterhole that attracts diverse wildlife.

The main building spans two levels and houses various facilities including a lounge, plunge pool, curio shop, bar, and a semi-open-air dining room with waterhole views. Meals are served in different settings, with breakfast and lunch typically offered in the main building or verandah, while dinner is enjoyed in an outdoor boma beneath the stars. The lodge is conveniently located four hours from Johannesburg and can accommodate up to 60 guests.

The property features comprehensive facilities including a convention center that can host up to 150 delegates, a wedding venue, and the Tau Spa Oasis offering professional therapeutic treatments. The lodge provides twice-daily game drives as part of the accommodation package and can arrange private deck dining for special occasions.

Family-friendly amenities include specialized children's game drives for those under 6 years, while older children can join adult safaris subject to management approval. The accommodation comprises 30 luxury thatched chalets, all overlooking the waterhole. Room options include Standard Chalets for two adults, Deluxe Chalets suitable for families or three adults, Family Units consisting of two semi-interleading standard chalets, and Family Suites featuring two large connected suites. All rooms are equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning, bathrobes, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
